Hanging Baskets, Mixed Pots and Topiaries
Our hanging baskets and pots range from 10 to 18 inches depending on the style and type. We grow beautiful moss baskets, wicker baskets and cone shaped baskets which are new this year. The topiaries are made for the spring and summer as well as our very popular poinsettia topiaries that we grow for Christmas.
At Pequot plant farm we take pride in our mixed pots, hanging baskets and topiaries. They are bright, cheerful, healthy and in a class of their own. They are grown for full sun, part sun and shade. The tags are color coded for your convenience. We are sure you will find the exact combination of colors and plants that you are looking for.
We also grow combinations in a variety of different containers. From plastic, wood and terracotta to glazed pots, metal deck hangers and inexpensive pots and boxes for the cemetery.
Caring For Your Mixed Hanging Baskets 1) Make sure your plant is getting the right amount of sun and or shade. The price tags are color coded for your convenience. Yellow is for full sun, purple for shade and green for mixed. Most of our baskets can handle both sun and shade. If you are unsure, ask one of our employees and we will help you find the perfect basket for your home. 2) Water you plant when needed, but don't over water. Sometimes just placing your hand on the bottom of the pot and lifting up will give you a good idea if it needs water. If it is light, water it. If it feels heavy, it's probably fine. 3) Dead heading and pinching back the foliage make a huge difference on how your plant will look throughout the summer season. Some combinations require more maintenance then others. After flowers have gone by, pinch off their heads and discard. Different flowers need to be pinched in different place's so again, if you have any questions, be sure to ask. Also if the plants begin to look leggy, it could probably use a haircut. Just cut back the foliage about 2-3 inches. Again, we can show you how to do that. 4) Apply an all purpose fertilizer every couple of weeks. We suggest Miracle grow or Jacks. Both fertilizer's are sold at the plant farm. With a little extra love and care, you can keep your basket's looking great all season long.
